- Does eating authentic Greek Yoghurt have any health benefits?
- TOTAL Greek yogurt is 100% pure and natural. It contains no added colours, preservatives or artificial flavours and is a good source of protein. Find out more about TOTAL nutrition.
- How can I tell the difference between authentic TOTAL Greek and Greek-style Yoghurt?
-
Authentic TOTAL Greek Yoghurt is made using traditional Greek methods. It’s creamy and thick: if you hold the pot upside down it won’t pour out. TOTAL is also completely natural with no added preservatives, sugars or sweeteners.
‘Greek-style’ yoghurt is not made in Greece. It’s a set or stirred yoghurt, usually thickened with gum extracts and often incorporating additives. It is much runnier and sharper in taste.
- Is TOTAL Greek Yoghurt live?
- TOTAL Greek Yoghurt is made with live active cultures. ‘Live’ means that the yoghurt cultures are added after the milk has been heat-treated to remove any bacteria.
- I am allergic to cows’ milk, can I eat Greek Yoghurt?
- TOTAL Authentic Greek Yoghurt is made with cow’s milk. But you can eat FAGE Sheep’s & Goat’s Yoghurt, which is a blend of ewe’s milk and goat’s milk. You can also enjoy FAGE Feta cheese.
- How is TOTAL Greek yoghurt made?
- We make TOTAL using a proprietary process.
- Why can you cook with TOTAL Greek Yoghurt and not other yoghurts?
-
Because we remove the whey from TOTAL Greek Yoghurt, you can heat it to high temperatures without it curdling. All our products can be heated except Total Sheeps’ & Goats' Yoghurt.
TOTAL 0% can be heated gently but is best added at the end of a recipe, for example, swirled into soups or stirred through sauces for a richer, smoother texture. Its low fat content means it can become grainy at high temperatures.
- Is it made with pasteurised milk?
- Yes.
- Can vegetarians eat TOTAL Greek Yoghurt?
- Yes, the TOTAL range is approved by The Vegetarian Society. However, FAGE Feta Cheese contains animal rennet so is not suitable for vegetarians.
- Can I freeze yoghurt?
- Yoghurt products don't freeze well. But if used just a small amount in a recipe, there shouldn't be a problem.
- At what temperature should the yoghurt be kept?
- 0-4°C.
