Our history

How it all started

In 1926, Athanassios Filippou opened a small dairy that soon became known for its delicious, creamy Greek yoghurt. The business grew, and in 1964 the company’s first yoghurt-producing factory was opened.

How TOTAL Greek Yoghurt came to the UK

FAGE’s TOTAL Greek yoghurt was the first strained yoghurt to be successfully launched in Europe. It hit supermarket shelves in the UK, during the early 1980's, and has continued to grow in popularity ever since.

The company today

FAGE has come a long way from its humble beginnings. It’s now Greece’s biggest dairy company, producing fresh milk, cheese and yoghurt for customers worldwide.

Its state-of-the-art technology means FAGE produces 50,000 litres of milk per hour and  500 million pots of yoghurt every year. It’s renowned for the unique straining process that gives TOTAL Greek Yoghurt it’s characteristic taste and texture.

Even after all these years, FAGE is still a family-run business whose motto is: “We would never make a product that we would not give to our children”.
